Who We Are
I undertook an apprenticeship to become a Master Thatcher on the Rushmore Estate in the late 1970’s and have run Shire Thatcher’s in and around Dorset since 1984. My wife, Nicola Carter, runs Natures Treasures, the crystal and fossil shop at the top of the High Street in Shaftesbury. I stood for chair to give members more of a voice and push for greater involvement in the Chamber.
I have been involved with retail for over 35 years in operations, buying, marketing and as a consultant. I now own Shaftesbury Wines, the specialist wine shop on the High Street. I joined the chamber to strengthen the retailer’s perspective. My aim is to celebrate the success of our town both locally and nationally.
I have been in business in Shaftesbury since 1997 and involved with the Chamber since 1998, having been Chairman for 2 years. It has been a pleasure to witness Shaftesbury grow as feature destination for both shoppers and tourists, and I intend to work to see it continue to do so.
