Chamber starts the ball rolling for town’s future
Councillor Richard Tippins gave a presentation on how the plan would be put together, why it is important to the community and the funding benefits for the town. The chamber’s vice chairman, James Hughes, outlined the timetable for the business section before opening the floor to proposals.
The meeting was well attended with many different businesses from the town putting forward proposals. These including ideas about new business parks, better signage and improved road safety for pedestrians. Long standing issues such as parking & toilet facilities were also highlighted.
If you couldn’t make the meeting you can still contribute to the plan by sending your views and ideas to: firstname.lastname@example.org . The full list of proposals will be placed online for consultation on 14th of August so please try to send your contribution before then.
Following on from your feedback, the final draft will be presented at the Chamber’s next open meeting on the 9th of October before being added to the rest of the draft plan for wider consultation.
The plan will shape the next 15-20 years of development and planning for Shaftesbury, Melbury Abbas & Cann. It is vital that as many businesses as possible participate so the final proposals are representative and inclusive. If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch using the above email.
