By affiliating to DCCI, Shaftesbury has the opportunity to join in their events, share good practice and ideas with other town Chambers and have its voice heard beyond the town. DCCI is accredited by the British Chambers of Commerce, representing the business voice in Whitehall and Westminster, meaning Shaftesbury’s voice is no longer limited to the local area. Other town Chambers affiliated to DCCI include Weymouth and Portland, Dorchester, Poole, Broadstone, Bridport and Ferndown with Swanage also shortly joining.

The affiliation means that Shaftesbury Chamber will be engaged within the national Quarterly Economic Survey, have the opportunity to discuss and share best practice with other Chambers and join the Chamber Forum, discussing key issues affecting businesses across the County. Shaftesbury Chamber members will also be able to access certain events and DCCI training at member rates. Ian Girling, Chief Executive of DCCI states “One of our key objectives is to facilitate a powerful voice for business. We believe we have a great opportunity in bringing the Chambers closer together through the affiliation and providing that national link through our accreditation by the British Chambers of Commerce.”

Shaftesbury’s Chairman Clive Carter says “This is a great move for us. It gives a voice in to Government and having met Ian I am sure the affiliation can only benefit our members and hope it will attract more of the town’s bigger businesses.”
